About the UK Christian Book Awards
-
The first award was held in 2000 and held annually until 2004 when it became biannual,
a special award was held for 2011 to celebrate 30 years of the Speaking Volumes library scheme that helps Churches donate Christian books to Libraries and Schools.
-
The purpose is to promote what is best in Christian writing in the UK and to encourage the writing of Christian books.
Lately it has focused on what makes a good Christian library book by looking specifically at books that would sit comfortably on a public library shelf.
The award is therefore promoting the title "The Ultimate Christian Library Book".
-
It is run by Speaking Volumes on behalf of the Christian Book Promotion Trust,
a charity set up 42 years ago by Cecil Jackson Cole to promote Christian literature to an audience beyond the Church.
-
The winning author for both the Adult & Children's category will receive a £1,000 cash prize.
